Paramount House Hotel

Client: Paramount House Hotel

Designing the uniform for Paramount House Hotel was a collaborative affair. Being a small 29 room hotel all of the pieces had to be multifunctional: the garments are not just uniforms, but also merchandise, in-room accessories, and are worn across multiple job descriptions. Our brief was open-ended but clear ~ design something the staff will love to wear.

The Hotel's copper-clad roof shines on Commonwealth Street in Sydney’s Surry Hills, and signals the completion of a long-running restoration and reformation of what was once the former warehouse and offices of Paramount Picture Studios. The rooms and atrium-style lobby blend heritage with new. Restored ceilings, windows and old brick walls are complemented by fresh timber floors and terrazzo-tiled bathrooms.

Combining sportswear inspired fabrics with workwear sensibilities, the uniform is defined by its pops of pink, detailed embroidery, and iconic ‘House’ and ‘Help’ branded options. Everything was designed with functionality and practicability in mind.

The pieces include an oversized cotton linen robe available in all rooms, a coated cotton rip-stop bomber jacket for the girls, and our favourite, the open neck short sleeve shirt with the Hawaiian diver yardage by We Buy Your KidsThe whole ‘collection’ is now being put the test at the hotel that is open and taking reservations.
