A Local Guide to Potts Point with Piccolo Bar

Potts Point is an inner-city suburb that strikes a balance between lively and lovely. Leafy streets with beautiful heritage terraces sit alongside neon signs, wine bars and late night kebabs. A little glamorous and a little scrappy, it’s a great walkable area overloaded with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops you should have on your radar.

Piccolo Bar is one of them. A tiny space with a big heart, it has been in service since the 1950s and was recently reimagined into a beautiful small aperitivo bar and diner. Come here for a negroni and a gourmet hot dog and wind down the hours until your heart’s content.

We teamed up with the crew at Piccolo to round up their favourite places to eat, drink, and hang out in Potts Point.

The Piccolo Bar team helping us put together this guide to Potts Point:
  • Dave - Co-Owner.
  • Amy - Co-owner.
  • Josh - Bar supervisor.
  • Marco - Bar Manager.
What's your go-to when you knock off?
Where are you eating on a day/night off?
It's staff party time... where would you take the whole team?
  • Dave - Gazebo Bar.
  • Amy - Maggie's in Potts Point for a schnitzel and a big beer.
  • Josh - I am taking everyone to Dulcie's Kings Cross. An underground bar located on Darlinghurst  road. Easy to miss but worth the trouble. The place is super comfy and effortlessly stylish. The drinks are made using 100% Australian produce in both the drinks and food offerings. So you know the drinks will be both unique and top quality.
  • Marco - Drink to Jangling Jack’s for the starter drink, Holey Moley golf for a bit of fun, dinner at Dear Sainte Eloise, and last cup at the Roosevelt.
You have a 15 minute lunch break... where are you grabbing a quick bite?
Gotta kill time... where are you going window shopping?
  • Dave - Penny's Cheese Shop, could spend hours...
  • Amy - Who doesn't love a stroll along Macleay Street in Potts Point?
  • Josh - Since I was a child I have always loved books. So Cross Arts + Books is a must for me. They have thousands of books on a massive range of niche topics. It's hard to leave without picking up a few.
  • Marco - along Darlinghurst Road.
