PROJECT MISE EN PLACE
Provider Store is a hole-in-the-wall Japanese homewares shop in Surry Hills.
They’re known for their hand-poured refillable candles and commitment to sourcing unique, slow-made products that are both functional and beautiful.
Provider was a natural fit for a Worktones collaboration. Not only are there shared values between businesses, but a genuine friendship between Surry Hills neighbours.
With a mutual interest in design-led pieces, and any excuse to work together again, Worktones and Provider launched two products: the Store Cap and Store Bag.
PROCESS NOTES
The Worktones x Provider relationship started back in 2018. Worktones originally had an office on Riley St, just up the road from the Provider Store as it still stands today.
Provider Store’s founder, Tara Bennett, bonded with Worktones founder, Huw Bennett, over business, grand ideas and the discovery of many mutual friends. And, of course, the Bennett name (nope - they’re not related).
Collaborations have ebbed and flowed over the years, from Worktones selling Provider candles online to Provider using our aprons for candle-making classes.
There was also an original collaboration shoulder bag from 2019 that used GOTS organic cotton fabric and featured loads of pockets. You might still spot it around town if you know what you’re looking for.
ORDER UP
The Store Bag is a generous shoulder bag built for your daily rounds, featuring external pockets designed to perfectly fit Provider candles. The Store Cap is a structured 6-panel shape with an adjustable brass buckle.
Both items are made from unwashed cotton denim, dark navy cotton ripstop and cream contrast stitching.
