PROJECT MISE EN PLACE
When Anyday Hospitality set out to open French Exit and Le Royale, a French bistro downstairs and bar upstairs, they weren't simply launching another venue. Both concepts represented a new chapter for the Brisbane hospitality group, each with a distinct identity that called for a custom-designed uniform.
Having worked together across multiple venues over the years, such as Idle and Golden Avenue, the folks at Anyday gave us an intentionally broad brief, providing brand colours and some styling references; the rest was left to Worktones.
What followed was less a traditional design process and more a creative collaboration.
We've grown alongside Anyday over the years. They know what we're capable of and trust us to interpret their venues in a way that feels authentic. That level of trust allows for a much more collaborative process.

PROCESS NOTES
Worktones explored different fabrics and silhouettes. One key design decision is a high-density cotton herringbone for the uniforms of both venues - a natural fabric that, after a quick steam, brings texture and elegance to the dining room while staying comfortable during long shifts.
This decision was made with the understanding that a little extra care with these garments can go a long way. The result is a uniform where the fabric detailing gives a sharp profile.
Good enough isn't good enough when your aim is exceptional service. Uniforms are part of that, and Anyday always goes that extra step.

ORDER UP
Front-of-house at the French Exit wear a matching cream-coloured bespoke jacket and waist apron. Le Royale adopts the same garments in a rich French blue, creating a distinct identity while maintaining design continuity across both uniforms. The kitchen staff wear the Birdy apron in off-white.
The jacket takes after the tailoring of our existing Unstructured Blazer, subtly adjusted for a more relaxed fit on a broader range of shapes and sizes. The waist apron was completely bespoke, featuring a dual-entry pocket with access from the side and top and an oversized fit.
