Idle, Brisbane: One of Many Collaborations with Anyday Hospitality

PROJECT MISE EN PLACE

Within a matter of months, Brisbane’s beloved Agnes Bakery closed its doors to make way for Idle

Where Agnes was about queuing for a sourdough loaf or pastry to take on your merry way, Idle is about slowing down and making a meal of it.

Alongside the line-up of baked goods and sandwiches, there’s room to sit in the light-filled space, linger over breakfast and coffee, and browse a pantry stocked with house-made goods.

Idle is a venue by Anyday Hospitality, the same team that owns the likes of Gourmet Traveller 2023 Restaurant of The Year, Agnes, and the longtime local favourite Thai restaurant, sAme sAme.

Worktones had been working with Anyday for years when the brief came in for Idle. True to form, they had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve, but left plenty of room for Worktones to put their touch on it.

When we first started working together, Anyday was just starting out as were we. We’ve grown alongside them and we understand each other really well. Our collaboration is a well-oiled machine, but never transactional. There’s a lot of time and care that goes into each project and it’s a true partnership.

PROCESS NOTES

The branding through to the type of food they were going to serve at Idle was dialled in at the point this uniform project started. Anyday had a specific colour in mind for the aprons they wanted front-of-house to wear which was a French Blue that matched back to their logo. They also asked Worktones to explore other uniform options to differentiate managers.

Unlike most venues where bakers work behind the scenes, at Idle they’re front and centre.

Floor-to-ceiling windows give guests a view straight into the pastry room from the ground-floor stairwell, making a consistent look for the baking team just as important as for those on the floor.

Climate was another consideration. Brisbane’s heat called for light, breathable uniforms for front-of-house, while the cooler pastry kitchen downstairs required something suited to very different conditions.

THE REVIEW

We have collaborated with Worktones for several years now and they consistently go above and beyond in bringing our uniform visions to life, making pieces that look and feel uniquely us down to the smallest detail. For Idle, we wanted uniforms that moved with the team while seamlessly reflecting the clean and complementary colours of the venue’s aesthetic. The quality and durability of the garments hold their shape and purpose throughout the day, keeping our teams looking polished and feeling good.

An important message from Worktones

At present, our carrier, Australia Post, has ceased shipping parcels to the US due to the Trump administration's repeal of the U.S. de minimis exemption for low-value goods, which requires duties to be prepaid on all parcels upon arrival in the US.

We apologise for any inconvenience and are working to find an alternative solution for our customers, but in the meantime, we have had to pause online sales in the US. For business orders, please email hi@worktones.com to discuss your options.
